In Ontario, a Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kin.) is a licensed healthcare professional that assesses human movement and performance. In combination with exercise and movement-based strategies, a kinesiologist creates an exercise program to best address the patient’s needs. Kinesiologists often collaborate with other healthcare practitioners (chiropractors, physiotherapists, RMTs, physicians, etc.) to deliver an individualized plan of care.
Kinesiologists work with people of all ages and abilities, working to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. This includes, but is not limited to: back pain (sciatica, disc injuries, muscular injuries); neck pain, whiplash-related disorders, headaches, and post-concussion rehabilitation; joint pain and arthritis; sports injuries and sports performance issues; issues related to ergonomics and repetitive strain (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow); pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain and pelvic floor.
Kinesiology services are not currently covered by OHIP. Some third party insurance care plans may cover a portion of services provided by a Registered Kinesiologist. We recommend checking with your insurance company for specific details, or give us a call and we can help!
